“How can you be sure?”

Trudi flung back the drapes, uncovering their heads. “See? Those holes are exit wounds. They were shot in the back of the head. I’m supposed to prepare them for cremation. That’ll hide the evidence.”

Angus felt nauseous and turned away. “Who did this?” he asked.

“Agents of the Benevolence Laws.”
